Biles grew up within Spring Texas in the Houston metro area, where she and her sister Adria received adoption by parents Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone began to be interested in gymnastics when she was just six. Coach Aimee Borman took her to Bannon's Gymnastix, where they went for a field trip. Biles won a gold in floor exercise and a bronze in vault at the women's Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010, before advancing to the top level of gymnastics in the year 2011. Within less than two years, she had become the best in her sport. Biles was notable for her consistent performance, exuberant personality as well as the difficulty she encountered at all four events including vault, uneven bars and the balance beam.
