Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian songwriter and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk, alternative and rock but also has influences of jazz and hip hop. Ani diFranco was the first musician to start her own record label in 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who been in contact while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, and her mother comes from Montreal. Ani DiFranco composed and sang 32 Flavors. This song appears on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. A variation of the song is featured on the movie soundtrack for 1999's Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized to the organizers of a workshop held in Louisiana on an old plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, but several (including this piece) didn't detect remorse.
