The reporter has reported on various sports for major publications across the globe. Her tenure working at The Washington Post was spent reporting on multiple Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis along with basketball, football and other sports. In 2004 Nichols moved on to ESPN for nine years in which she earned two Emmy Awards and appeared on some of the network's most popular shows, such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. Nichols worked at TNT as a reporter, reporting on NBA games including regular season games, playoffs as well as All Star television broadcasts. Alongside reporting for TBS and TNT, she also reported on golf and baseball broadcasts as well as Final Four on CBS. In the 42 year history of the award, this was the first time that women were in the list of 200+ nominees.
