She really must have impressed because she turned that one episode into the lead role in Whedon's next big hit TV series, Firefly. Summer Glau was very good playing the challenging role of River Tam. Tam's character, Summer Glau was forced into government tests in order to prepare her for her role as the perfect assassin. Tam's ability to control emotions was taken away from her. In Firefly Glau was capable of displaying not only her acting ability but her ability to fight. Glau could fully utilize her athletic talent because she was training to be an assassin. Summer Glau is a classically trained ballerina. It was her broken toe however that caused an end to her dancing career. Firefly only lasted only one season but the show garnered a large follower base. The fans of Whedon were so passionate that Whedon returned to it 2 years after. In the meantime though, Summer Glau continued to receive some prestigious work. Summer Glau appeared in TV shows like Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
